Hello,
our rent is currently paying the mortgage on the home we are renting, that payment is withdrawn by the mortgage company from our checking account evey 14 days. If we decided to move could we in any way be held responsible for this home? We pay the property taxes also but those are not in our name either. is this just like any other tenant/landlord relationship where we would give 30 days notice? we have never signed any type of lease but we also cannot contact the mortgage company to have payments stopped because our names are not on the loan so they wont even speak with us. I dont think our landlord is going to be willing to call on our behalf!! What should we do? Thank you for your time

Hi lizzy,
If your name is not mentioned on the mortgage docs, then you're not responsible for the mortgage payments in any way. If you stop paying the mortgage payments, the lender won't come after you.
Thanks

Hi lizzy!
Welcome to forums!
You can give 30 days notice and then leave the property. However, you can check out your rental agreement to find out if there is any other obligation which you need to pay off.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
