Hi
I have a contract on a home with fannine mae through a REDC. The auction company contacted me after I contacted them to tell me 6 days before closing the house was sold in dekalb county in a tax sale. Dekalb said the taxes are payed up and has not been sold in a tax sale. The clerk in the tax sales dept of dekalb county said it doen't make since because she would know if it was sold on the courthouse steps. The clerk at dekalb county told me to asked the lady at REDC for the documents of the tax sale. I asked the lady in the closing dept at REDC to forward me the email from fannie mae stating they sold the house in a tax sale because she usually forward me info but she said she can't because it's for her office only. She want me to sign a document to cancel contract to get my earnest money back. Someone at fannie mae told me the paperwork is ready to go as in if it's ready to go for me to close but I need to talk to someone of higher at fannie mae that can tell me more so they transferred me. Someone of higher was confuse and said they couldn't tell me anything to talk to REDC because it looks as if the property was sold to someone or they maybe accepting another offer. I've had a bad feeling about this because I noticed they changed the description of the house from a 2 bed 2 bath to 4 bed 3 bath and did not change the status to "under contract" on realtor.com. On fannie mae website "homepath.com" it's showing "under contract". Also they cut off communication with me, I would have to contact their office for updates which I only contacted twice which was on 2/10/2011 the last email I got from their office was 2/17 so I contacted their office today for closing on 3/17/2011. I've been under contract since 01/2011. If that wasn't enough I went to the house and their were new documents in the window. The lawn was in the middle of a landscaping cleanup, trees were pruned etc...If their is someone that can help me, please advise me what to do at this point.
Thanks
Tammy

You're in a complicated situation. I will suggest you to contact a real estate attorney and take his opinion in this matter. The attorney will be the best to help you in this matter and guide you in taking the right decision.
