Are social security survivor benefits for children considered taxable income?
Hi Richo,
Welcome to the forums.
If the benefit received by you and your child is in the form of a check made out in your name, you should use your part of the benefits and not the part received by your child, to determine whether the benefits are taxable. The part of your child's benefit should be added to his income to find out whether the benefits are taxable income.
