Hi there… I need help. Will I be approved for a home mortgage if I owe federal taxes from 2009 and 2010? I currently owe 13,000 total for the two years but I do not have a tax lien. I submitted my taxes late due to divorce.
I would suggest you to pay your tax dues first and then to apply for a home loan. If you meet the eligibility criteria, then you will surely get the approval.
Hi Volga,
As far as I know, if you're delinquent on your taxes, then you won't be able to qualify for any kind of loans. The lenders avoid giving loans to people who haven't paid off their taxes as the tax department might place lien on the property.
Take care

If you do not have a lien, then the lender would not know that you owe taxes. If there was a lien, as long as you are making payment, that can be acceptable. Be upfront with your loan officer and explain the situation. As long as your are working with the IRS, they will not come after you for judgment/lien...Good luck
