Will Contacting An Underwrting Supervisor Backfire?

Posted on: 31st May, 2011 02:38 pm
My husband and I have applied for a loan with Wells Fargo. Almost a month ago we received an email from someone who introduced themselves as an underwriter (I thought that was odd.) Since that time we have had horrible communication. Though our funding commitment date is within the week, I just learned today that our appraisal has not yet been ordered! They are asking for documents that I have already sent over repeatedly, and even though my leasing office has sent over a verification of rent form, she is still asking for the last 12 months of cancelled checks. I am getting very nervous about this whole thing. Is this a good instance to contact the Underwriting Manager or will that just back fire on me?
You should remember, you are the customer. There is no reason that after a month of processing your loan, you haven't had the appraisal inspection. You can always contact another lender and close the loan with someone else. By all means, contact who ever you can at WF. If there is a delay in the process, you should have been communicated the reasons why. Good luck!

Frankly, I'm distressed that your loan officer (or loan broker, if that's where you've gone) isn't involved in this process. In your shoes, I'd make as much noise as I could, particularly in light of the delay in the ordering of the appraisal.

The sending of documents is always a fiasco, so that doesn't surprise me so much, but there's no excuse for unannounced delays, and it would be beneficial to you to contact whomever are able at Wells to get to assist you.
