Hello! My boyfriend and I put an offer in on a house and it was accepted about a month ago. The mortgage is being processed right now and we close on June 15th. He makes 50,000/year and I make 25,000/year. He was recently put on FMLA for a few weeks so he could go to physical therapy for his back. He will most likely be off of work for about 8 weeks. He is getting money from his disability insurance AND unemployment and that evens out what he was making when he was working. Will this cause a problem when the mortgage lady goes to do the employment verification?
Welcome jjcccc,
I don't think your boyfriend's unemployment will cause much problem in this regard. He will be on leave for 8 weeks and then he will get back to work. Your boyfriend should provide the lender with proper explanation of his unemployment. This will help him in getting a mortgage.

Is his company legally allowed to disclose that he is out on FMLA?
If the mortgage lender contacts your boyfriend's company, then they may let the lender know whether or not he is out of FMLA.
Good post, i will share it
