Hello there… I am asking this on behalf of my Dad. My dad is 58 years old and is permanently disabled. He is on SSI which he gets just under $1000 a month. He was recently pre-qualified for a VA loan with 0 down. He is currently spending over half his income on his rent. He needs a 620 mid-score, and currently has a 622. However, he won’t be applying until July. He has 2 paid judgments from 2006 which will fall off within some time. He also has 3 paid as agreed and closed loans from 2000-2006. All 3 show positive history only. Apart from that, he has 1 collection for medical for $300 from 2008. I have added him as an authorized user to my capital one card hoping for a boost there. So, do you think I should offer PFD on these other accounts? Will he be able to get a loan on his own?
Hi Guest,
It will be a good option if you offer a pay for delete (PFD) on his accounts which you want to delete. If negative items are deleted from his account, then it will have a positive impact on his credit record and in turn improve his scores.
Take care.

Also, you can add him on others accounts as authorized user, and have him apply for a secured credit card. Do the pay for delete as well. Write in the check memo pay for delete by cashing this check, or something similar. Also, you will need the letter before you pay, that they will offer you the PFD
