I live with my boyfriend a four month old baby in an apartment. We both work. He tried to apply for housing assistance in the past and was denied for criminal charges. So just wondering if I were to apply for would I be denied because I live with him?
If you are applying for a housing assistance or mortgage solely in your name, then you won't face any issues because of him.
In this case, if you try to include your boyfriend in the mortgage agreement, then the lender might raise some objections or levy extra charges on the loan citing your boyfriend's less than stellar reputation.
I don't think it's a good idea to include your boyfriend. You might as well get the housing assistance, but for yourself only.
I would like to add that you must ensure that your boyfriend acts responsibly and shares the burden of the mortgage loan, if he gets the approval to be on the agreement.
