STATUTE OF LIMINATIONS FOR A MORTGAGE FROM A RELITIVE?

Posted on: 30th Jun, 2010 09:31 am
BORROWED MONEY FROM HUSBANDS BROTHER TO BUY LAND. IT WAS HUSBANDS MONEY. HAD TO SIGN PAPERS TO GET MORTGAGE FROM HIS BROTHER. WITH 5% INTEREST. WHAT IS THE STATUTE OF LIMINATIONS ON THIS LOAN. NO PAYMENT HAS BEEN PAID TO DATE. NOW I AM SEPERATED FROM HUSBAND.
THANKS
Hi GRANDMASBARDELLA,

You have mentioned that you had to sign papers when you took out the mortgage. The mortgage documents will mention what type of actions can be taken against you if you did not pay off the loan.

You have mentioned that you're now separated from your husband. In that case, you can ask your husband to remove your name from the loan papers by refinancing the existing mortgage.

Thanks
