Saved home from foreclosure this year...want a new home soon

Posted on: 26th Sep, 2010 09:52 pm
Hello!

End of last year/beginning of this year, we were in foreclosure status, but worked extremely hard and paid everything - including all the attorney's fees, etc. - that was owed and kept our home. We've had it current now ever since (I was laid off last year, and husband had major back surgery).

We did file Ch. 7 bankruptcy back in 2007, and we were discharged that same year. There have been times, especially during that layoff time, that we got behind on bills, namely my truck note, and are still paying on the back surgery, as well as the ER trip husband made this past summer.

(continued)
Here's the plus side: He got a new job last November, that at first didn't increase his salary until his training was over in April, and now he is making much better money then before. We are diligently working on keeping bills paid on time and I almost have all the medical bills paid off. Our home was purchased very cheaply, we live in a very desirable area, and we could easily make a minimum $30,000 profit off our home. We need something larger and would like to get something starting next year.

Hi brandydenise!

Welcome to forums!

You have mentioned that you filed Chapter 7 in 2007, you'll have to wait for 2 years in order to get a FHA loan after bankruptcy discharge and wait for 4 years to get a conventional loan. As 2 years have passed since you filed bankruptcy, you should contact the local FHA lenders in order to get a mortgage.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
