I have a 15 year mortgage that began in January of 2003. It started out at $78,000 & with paying extra, I have the principal down to $26,734.49. Is there a way to figure out how much extra I need to pay each month to pay it off in the next 2 -3 years? I am currently paying an extra $134.13 to the principle each month.
Hi gweddle,
You can check out the given calculator in order to calculate how much extra you would require to pay if you want to pay off your mortgage in the next 2-3 years:
http://www.mortgagefit.com/calculators/howmuch-pay.html
While filling out details as asked in that page, mention the "Mortgage Period" as either 2 years or 3 years.
Take care.
