How long should it take to get a pre-approval letter
Hi Chauncpen!
Welcome to forums!
As far as I know, a pre-approval is a time consuming process. It might take around 3-4 days time or may even take a week's time to complete the pre-approval process. Then you will get the letter.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Thank You, everyone else is telling me (20 mins over the phone) I've had someone tell me 24hrs, these are agents from another forum, I like your answer because someone else has told me almost the same as you have. I guess my credit union is backed up with an overload of applications due to the rate being so low. Thanks again Susane.
If you are looking for a lenders approval of you loan, you would have to adhere to that lenders Undewriting requirements. If you are just looking for the generic pre-approval letter, that is basically instant. Once you provide some info to a loan originator, they should be able to determine a base for what your income and credit qualify for. Good luck-
