6% REALTOR COMMISSION SHOULD BE AGAINST THE LAW

Posted on: 24th Jan, 2010 02:32 pm
Am I the only one that thinks realtors are raping the consumer? I am so sick of realtors questioning a .250 in interest rate, my origination fee or the processors fee when they are getting away with pure murder!

Why is everyone giving them a free pass to take so much of the American family's home equity? When I look up at the top of the HUD and see the 6% raping of the buyer/seller for doing a job that should not pay more than $3,000 TOTAL it just drives me insane!

If I get a buyer before they get too involved with a Realtor. I educate them about realtor commission and then have them get more educated on the internet and direct them to a real estate office in their city that specializes in helping buyers with realtor rebate.

And for a realtor to say anything negative about this it's pure hogwash!
I am a Realtor. I charge 6% for listings. I offer 3% to buyer's agents. I specialize in converting For Sale Buy Owners (FSBO's). I give them advice I let them borrow signs, etc... I give them every opportunity so they can sell their house themselves. I don't charge them anything for this service. I do this because I know that 7 out of 10 will evenually list with an agent. When the time comes they usually list with me. Studies show that Realtors can get home sellers on average 16% more than they can get themselves. That is a 10% net benefit to using a Realtor. When the tranaction is done they usually thank me.

Bibi,
You have no idea what you are talking about. Let me ask you a simple question. What do you do for a living?
Whatever it is, I want you to consider taking a 66% pay cut. If you're willing to do it, then I'll tell you what... so will I. Let me know your decision.

Gilbert, if Realtors get 16% more for the same house, why would any buyers buy from a Realtor listing? I am pretty sure that is because buying agents don't like to show FSBO. They say that 6% is negotiable but several agents including those posted on this site admit no one will show a house if the buying agents commission is less than 3%. Commission to the buying agents directly should be illegal. They are suppose to represent the buyer but are paid by the seller. If the sellers paid directly to the buyers as a credit, the buyer could negotiate with the buyers Realtor or do it themselves.
