Can I remove a co-signer once my credt is better?

My husband and I are getting ready to buy our first home and we will need a co-signer. However we don't want to leave the co- signer on our loan forever just until we improve our credit score. Will we be able to take them off the loan?
no you won't be able to do that. what you will be able to do is to refinance your loan by taking a brand-new loan that won't require you to use the services of a co-signer.

once a person signs a note, that is final. there's no alterations made.

It's not possible, Co-Signer will be on loan until you not paying off total value of loan.

Thanks.

It seems like the government has done nothing with the mortgage crisis and the recession at hand. For example, I have a friend who has a house, and a brand new Hummer. They Recently filed bankruptcy and got to keep both the house and the Hummer. How is that fair? On the other hand, I owe about 3 grand, but have been steadily paying it back for a year, Recently paid off a car, have never been late on rent or utilities, cant even get approved for a home loan with 20 - percent down.

well, debts paid off and I now even have a house. All I had to do was pay off my debt... roughly $3000) and borrow $6000 from a friend, to cover the $2500 closing.

Then I waited 10 weeks for my first time homeowners tax credit to send me back a check for $8000 dollars. I had some money left over to pay my tuition
