Is rental verification always required for an FHA loan? My wife and I rent from a family member and pay them in cash every month as our rental payments. Is rental verification always a requirement and how would we go about providing proof?
As far as I know, if you go for a FHA loan, a rental verification may be required. If your relative is paying tax on the rental income, you can use that document from your relative to provide as proof.
Hi Gustav!

I agree with Niicss. The lender and his underwriter may ask for rental verification. Given your situation, it will be very difficult for you to provide rental verification.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

You and your wife can get a rent slip from the person whom you are paying the rent. The rent slip however should bear the signatures of both parties.
