I was trying to purchase a house and have a tax lien on my credit and have been on a payment plan and the IRS has taken my federal refund for the past 4 years. How hard will it be to obtain a mortage and I am a veteran and have my VA certificate and never used it. My spouse credit is good and we have a large family living in a apartment and really want to purchase a house for space. Spouse just recently graduated college and seeking employment what are our chances of obtain a mortage.
You can apply for a VA loan in order to get a mortgage to buy a property. As you're paying off the tax lien through a payment plan to the IRS, I don't think you'll face issues in getting a mortgage.
