i am attorney who is fully licensed in dc and nj. however, i was recently admitted to the us district court of md (federal court). as a result, i am able to do consumer bankrutpcy cases for md residents. however, i would also like to handle loan modifications and collection cases for md residents. do i have to be admitted to the md state bar to handle loan modification and collection cases in md?
Hi wardellhuff,
As far as I can understand, it's better to get admitted to the MD State Bar in order to handle loan modification and collection cases. However, you can also check out your rights under the US District Court of MD. If loan modification and collection cases are allowed, then you don't have to get admitted to the MD State Bar.
Take care.
