My mother inlaw owns the house my wife (her daughter) and our ten year old son live. We have been there for like twenty years.
January of 2007 she moved into the assisted living section of the facility where she once had an appartment, she has alzhiemers (?) quite badly but otherwise is in general good health but unable to take care of herself.
Currently the house is to be sold and the money put into her estate.
We would like to move and could use the money for a down-payment on another house. If she quickdeeded the house to us would we be able to sell it?
We live in Michigan and I do not know the laws regarding the sale of the house, and when and if the state can go for the money from the sale.
