I need to apply for a lost title on my mobile home but I only have the data plate. I have no other info. Where do I go or what do I need to do?
Welcome Jenn.
How long have you been on the mobile home? have you purchased it just a few days ago? If you have been owning the property, then apply for a duplicate title to the mobile home.
To get a duplicate certificate of title, you will need to submit a notarized request to the State Department of Licensing. You need to sign on the request if you're the legal owner. However, if there is a lien holder or lender who has offered you a mortgage on the mobile home, then he is regarded as the legal owner and he must apply for the duplicate title.
The owner should provide the following details:
1. Owner's name
2. Year and model of the mobile home
3. The mobile home VIN number and the license number plate
Thanks.

The title to the mobile home has been lost and it has been discovered that there is a lein on the property. Apparantly after the loan was paid off, the leinholder did not re convey and is now deceased. What can be done? The mobile home is in California
Hi Ann,
If you have lost the title to the mobile home, you need to get in touch with the local office of the Department of Motor Vehicles to have a new title issued in your name. To remove the lien from the property, you need to provide some sort of evidence to show that the loan has been paid in full.

We can not find the label plate on our mobile home and we have it sold to a guy. We are running out of time because we are building a house and the mobile home needs to be gone. what can we do to go around this. we live in FL.
Hi Tina,
You should contact HUD and check out if it can issue a letter of label (tag) verification for the unit.
Thanks

Hi i bought a mobile home a few months ago... the ppl have lived in for 8 years. I bought it off them but have no title ... so i never officialy had it under my name. I am now being asked for proof of ownership but i was told by the ppl that they never paid plates or anything what can i do? :?
Unless you have the deed, you won't be able to prove the ownership of the property. You should contact a real estate attorney and take his/her help in this matter.
Also you might check with your county assessors office to make sure it is not being taxed as real property... we are having a similar problem. We bought land with a mobile home on it a year ago and now trying to sell (mobile home and land still together) and buyer's lender wants title. We never receive a title... and our's IS being taxed as real property, but it is not described in the property description and there is no data label that we can find so we don't have make/model or anything... just a HUD certification label is all we can find. Hoping we can still close next week...
