we have a mobile home and land financed with a mortgage company. the mortgage company is calling us wanting the title and we have nothing. my husband went to dmv and they told him their was a lien on it with the original mortgage company we had it with before? that mortgage company is no longer in bussiness and someone bought them out and they are no longer in bussiness. what should i do next. thanks
Hi booty,
Did you paid off the lien? In case you did, you should have got the title back from the mortgage company. In case you haven't, you can contact the company which has now bought the mortgage company and check out what options you have to pay off the lien and get the title back. As long as the lien is on the property, you cannot have free and clear title.

The DMV should be able to provide you with a copy of the title. Unless they have already released it.
