SJM did unauthorized withdrawal from my account-What to do?

Posted on: 07th Dec, 2006 06:09 pm
I recived a $200 loan from this company. During this process, money was taken from my account that I did not authorize. My bank closed my account and gave me a new one. When the payment became due my account was closed, however Platinum B Services were the ones who tried to debit my account on behalf of SJM. The payment was due on the 1st of Dec, by the 7th of Dec I was receiving calls from a collection agency sd that I was in violation of federal law, because the funds that were loaned to me were federal funds and that theft charges would be filed against me, if I did not pay them $521.00 on a $200 loan. I am unsure about what to do. I would like to contact an attorney, but I'm not sure of what type of an attorney to call. I am a single mom with breast cancer and I don't need this kind of trouble. I am afraid that if I pay Platinum B then SJM will come back and say that they did not receive the money. Need help!!
Hi Denise,

As far as I know, SJM marketing and platinum B services are one and the same company. I think you should pay them any more money. Rather you should contact the company and directly talk to any of the officials. Their contact number is 1-866-722-2770.

One thing I would like to tell you. We have earlier received several complaints against the SJM Marketing and it may be involved in illegal activities. So, just watch out before they do any kind of fraud with you. And, in case, you wish to contact any attorney, look for someone dealing with issues related to loans and credit for further help.

For any other information on SJM Marketing , you can go through the previous discussion on it.

Thanks,

Sara

They have the worst reputation in the industry and everyone is hearing about problems as you are facing quite regularly. Something needs to be done to stop them.

I guess you did the right thing Willden. Indeed one has to fight against such companies as otherwise they'll carry on with their illegal practices. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience.

Take care

Does anyone know if SJM is the same company or linked to SSM Group, LLC. We received a loan for 300 and never got a email from them and have been trying to cancel the loan.

Hi Ralph,

As far as I know, SJM Marketing is a payday loan provider and is also the parent company of Platinum B Services. You can get the contact details of SJM Marketing in the given link:
http://www.mortgagefit.com/discuss/sjm-marketing.html

You can contact them and try canceling the loan.

Thanks.
