Quick claim deed and property taxes

Posted on: 24th Nov, 2010 02:17 pm
I am in the process of divorce and own property with my spouse. Our name is on mortgage. In lieu of child support Im agreeing to pay mortgage and home eq loan...but she wants me to sign a quick claim deed. If I do this i realize I have no interest in property. My concern is that I am aware I have no nterest but because Im on mortgage can I still claim interest on mortgage, home eq loan and property taxes even if Im not on deed? We live in NJ.
Hi JanC,

If you are paying the mortgage dues and if your name is mentioned on the mortgage docs, then you will be able to claim the deductions when you pay the taxes.
