Hi i was wondering how to remove my deceased husband from the deed and add my grandson. The property is in NJ.
Hi croninke,
You can remove your deceased husband from the property deed by filing an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office. Then, you can add your grandson to the property deed by signing a quitclaim deed. However, if your husband has left a will, then that needs to be probated and then the property would be divided amongst the heirs accordingly.
