My husband and I own our home in North Carolina, I recently discovered that my name is not on the deed, if my husbands passes away before I do, does the home become mine automatically?
Hi lcbroome ,
Welcome to our forum
I would like to advice you that, How its possible when you already divorced, You can't get his any property while you divorced him before he die so there no any option to get this home yours.
If your he putted your name on deed then there is chance to get his property.
This property is goes to his current beneficiary so forget it.
Welcome to Further queries.
Thanks & Regards.

Hi!
Welcome to forums!
To lcbroome,
The home will not automatically become yours. You will have to file an affidavit of heirship in the county recorder's office and transfer it in your name. However, if your husband leaves back a will, then the will needs to be probated.
You can ask your husband to add your name to the property with the help of a quitclaim deed.
To gunzijjistaff,
I don't think the OP has mentioned anywhere about divorce. So where does the question of divorce come from?
Feel free to ask if you have further queries.
