Can my paycheck be garnished?

Posted on: 25th Oct, 2010 02:34 pm
I live in NC and have a job but lost my second job. I have a past due credit card payment and was told that my paycheck could be attached if I don't make payments to the collection co. Is this true? Cand they attach a lean to my house. I owe 4000.00
Hi doetail!

Welcome to forums!

Your paycheck cannot be garnished unless the creditor gets a judgment against you from the court. This is same in case of placing a lien on the property. You should contact your credit card company and ask them to withdraw the account from collections. If the creditor does so, then you can set up a payment plan with them and pay off the dues.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
