Transferring Interest of Inherited Property

Posted on: 03rd Jun, 2010 05:34 pm
my three sisters and i inherited property in nc a couple of years ago. i want to transfer my interest in the property to another individual who was not an heir. in nc, a deed of distribution is not required so i'm not sure how i would use a warranty deed or even a quit claim deed to transfer this interest.

has anyone ever heard of something like this? if so, what's the best way to proceed?
Hi rcarrington!

Welcome to forums!

Is there a mortgage on the property? If yes, then you can use a quit claim deed in order to transfer your share of the property to someone else. If there's no mortgage on the property, then a warranty deed can be used to transfer your share of the property to someone else.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
