My same-sex partner and I share a home which he purchased 2 years ago. We would like to add my name to both the mortgage and the Deed. We reside in Youngstown Ohio, is there a legal way to accomplish this?font=Arial][/font]
Yes, you can add your name on both the mortgage and the deed. For this, you'll have to consult a local real estate attorney.
hi john!
welcome to the forums!
you can use a quitclaim deed in order to add your partner to the property deed. after that, both of you can refinance the mortgage in order to add your partner's name to the mortgage docs. however, in order to do so, both of you will have to meet the required criteria of the lender.
feel free to ask if you've further queries.
