I have separated from my wife and have found a home to purchase. How can I buy this home prior to divorce without my soon to be ex claiming dower rights? My state is Ohio.

As the divorce is not final, your wife may claim dower rights in the property if you buy it now. It will be better if you purchase the property once your divorce is final.

In NJ, she would only own the home if it were the marital home and in this case it is not the marital home. So, maybe you are ok, but, you need confirmation from someone who knows Ohio laws regarding this subject.
