Hi Fred,
There is a list of licensed mortgage lenders and brokers given on this Connecticut Department of Banking page - http://www.ct.gov/dob/cwp/view.asp?a=2233&q=297864&dobNAV_GID=1663
You can search with the name of this company in this list. If they are licensed in Connecticut, you will find their details listed there.

Hi Fred,
Welcome to forums.
The Better Business Bureau website gives all background information on a company. You may check out the details on all aspects from http://search.bbb.org/ . Hopefully you will get to know whether the company has a license and if it is reliable.
Thanks,
James.

Hi Fred,
The Financial Institutions Division regulates state-chartered banks, credit unions, savings unions and mortgage companies and so that these organizations comply with the State of Connecticut.
The official website of the Division provides for a check-in of the licensing of several companies. You can go through the website and verify the license. It's the same as the url given by Schaefer.
Thanks,
Jerry
