I have never had a mortgage, but my name is on the title to a 1983 mobile home valued a $6,000. It was given to me by my father about 13 years ago, and I am currently living in it. I pay lot rent, so I do not own the land it is sitting on. It is a single-wide trailer. With such a low value, and since I have never had a mortgage, and do not own the land the trailer is on, do I qualify for the 2009 $8,000 credit if I purchase my first real house by Nov. 30, 2009?

HI, everything seems ok except for the fact you ineheirted the mobile home from a family member. Your best be would be to ask a real tax advisor.
Thanks for the advice. I will consult a tax professional.

If I do not qualify for the $8,000 tax credit, I will probably wait another year or two to purchase a house. However, if I qualify and I find a place that I can afford and that I like, I will send you an email.
Thanks to both of you
