I noticed on the back of cancelled checks written to our mortgage company, TO BE DEPOSITED IN CUSTODIAL ACCOUNT ONLY. I need an explanation. My husband claims to have no knowledge of such. Thanks.

Custodian account menas An account created at a bank, brokerage firm or mutual fund company that is managed by an adult for a minor that is under the age of 18 to 21 (depending on state legislation). Adults can be guardian or parent for the minor.

A custodial account is a common financial strategy for establishing and protecting financial assets for minor children. Often created by a parent or legal guardian.
