I have an ARM with Aurora Loan Services. The interest rate now adjusts every six months. I pay my mortgage through my online banker and have it set up to make recurring payments so ALS is paid automatically & I don't have to submit a payment request every month.
When my last payment adjusted downward, I neglected to adjust the amount of the payment. Therefore, I was overpaying $54.01 each month during a five month period. Each month, ALS just credited the overpayment to my principal. I recently discovered this error oversight and contacted Aurora to request a refund. They refunded only the last overpayment amount.
ALS claim that they cannot refund any amounts posted beyond 30 days! When I inquired whether I could reduce the amount of my next mortgage payment by the total amount previously overpaid, I was told NO! I must pay the full amount due.
This seems ridiculous to me! Is there anything I can do?

You will need to check your papers for terms of the loan and what it says about the over payment
