My boyfriend and I bought a house together over three years ago...and we recently broke up. My name is on the mortgage...is he able to remove my name from this mortgage without my permission?
Yes he can if he refinaces the loan in his name.
but that will nto remove your name from the property. You still have onwership on the house, only he is responsible for the loan
Thats good for you in one way

agreed...if you're only worried about him removing you from the mortgage loan, then you don't have too many worries, mizmary.
in any event, sunny hit it on the head - he can refinance the home without you if he qualifies, but he cannot change the ownership without your assent.

wait....let me correct myself...he cannot refinance without your consent either...you would have to sign any new mortgage that takes the place of the old.
i got all caught up in sunny's last line.

Thank you for your help...I was just wondering because he is refinancing the mortgage and he agreed to give me some money if I agreed to take my name of the mortgage. We trusted each other and it has been a long time and I am beginning to wonder if he got my name off and he is just giving me the run around and he is not going to pay me my share.
it's reasonable for him to offer you a settlement, if you agree. however, it appears you lack trust in him. just be careful and if you decide to take a settlement after all, do some homework and assure yourself that it's a fair deal.
legally your boy friend can not do anything.
As you have ownership with property, but be careful before signing any paper.
In other words i will say discuss the matter with and resolve the issue. THAT WILL BE BETTER OPTION.

Have you yet discuss this issue with him?
Please talk with him and settle the issue that is correct way.

As long as you are coowner of property, you need not to worry.

your boy friend can not legally do this. Everything you signed on your mortgage was notarized. To remove your name you would have to sign in front of a notary public. If you did not sign, you can not be removed.
