I have a tax lien on my credit report due to estranged husbands business taxes. We have been separated for 10 yrs and I live in another state. The thing is, we do not own any property. We sold the home we lived in together in 2002 and the lien was on my credit in 2007 when I went to buy a car..I got the car at an awful interest rate, but you do what you have to....
I want to buy a home with my new signifancant other who has great score and income. My credit is good other than this lien.
I do not have the income to pay off the lien and my ex won't do it.
What can I do???

Your going to have to get that lien off your credit one way or another.
Have you tried disputing it with the credit agencies and seeing if it can be removed simply in this way?
If not you may have to get something from your ex stating that you are not responsible, and try again with this new information disputing it.
If that doesn't work you may have to try to settle it. Maybe your ex can kick in and help you pay to settle it. Most of the time they will settle for pennies on the dollar.
