Defaulting on home equity line of credit

Posted on: 24th Nov, 2009 04:33 pm
if a lien was placed on my home by washington mutual (now chase) because i couldn't make my mortgage payment or home equity line of credit payments and the house went into foreclosure and was sold to someone else, does the lien go against me or other property that wasn't financed by them? chase is trying to tell me that even though i included the home equity line of credit in a chapter 7 bankruptcy, i don't owe the money, but that there is still a lien against me, personally, not the property that the lien was filed against. is this true?
As far as i know the only way they could still be coming after you for the money following a Ch7 bankruptcy is if you reaffirmed the loan afterwards?
