If I pay over what is owed for my monthly mortgage payment can the company just keep the money and not apply it as excess funds?

I got behind on my mortgage and have been working to get it back current. I have been paying over my monthly payment and they are not posting these funds to my account in anyway. When I review my statement it is not even showing that amount as over when it shows details of how it is applied. Is this correct?
Hi sdmil1,

This is not the correct practice at all.I think you should ask the explanation about it to your lender/bank. You might be having receipts for the extra payments.

Initially you can just lodge a complaint with their designated officer (customer complaint) and get the customer complaint number so that it will help you to fight in the court/authority if required.

Thanks

They should apply the excess funds to outstanding fees, outstanding interest, then the outstanding principal.
