hello george, i owe money to cc companies and they are suing me, most probably they will get judgements, i live in california, but at one time had a house in NY, my name was taken off the deed and it is not on title right now (but there is a mortgage on it on my name) my name has not been on the deed for over a year, and the card company sued me 3 months ago...can they put a lien on the NY property??? it does not have my name on title...in another state...etc...thanks very much
Hi girian,
The property is New York is not in your name. In such a situation, the credit card company will not be able to place a lien on that property. However, if you're the owner of some other property, then the lender can come after it and place a lien on it.
