Long story short, we are looking to buy a house and the opportunity window is short. If we don't do this now then we most likely will not for at least 5 years until our child finishes school.
I worked as a sub contractor for a number of years, had some rough patches with health etc and did not file tax returns as I owed. 2006 and 2007. After this, I returned to a normal corporate job where I've been doing rather well but still have never filed until about 3 months ago when I sent in my oldest return. I did file the other returns however they were sent back due to lack of signature (I know stupid, I printed from turbotax and failed to sign!)
When we go to buy this house, they are going to pull a 4506t from the IRS with my tax returns. Well, they aren't going to find any!
I explained to my broker that I'm working with for the pre approval, that while I may already have been pre-approved, does it make sense to go through with this at this point? he stated to hurry up and file those and there shouldn't be a problem.
The IRS is going to take a LONG TIME to enter those, lets face it!
What if any, are my options? If there is a hope for this dream please let me know. I will be able to pay the back taxes once I receive the bill from the IRS but to date I have not received anything.
Is there a way to get the taxes on record very fast maybe?
