Posted on: 28th Jul, 2011 04:17 pm
my mother passed in 2007 and left the family home to me, an only child; my name is not on the deed to the property. Iam presently paying the real estate taxes, insurance, utility bills, etc. I would like to sell the pro-perty in the near future and the real estate agents say that I need clear title in order sell. please advise. thanks, alton
Hi alclegg!

Welcome to forums!

You can file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office and get the property transferred in your name. This will make you the sole owner of the property and your will be able to sell it off easily.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
