what is colorado law in regards to a lawyer wanting a retainer fee to apply for loan modifications?

lawyer would not help until a retainer fee of 1500 was paid to help mortagee's get a loan modification to keep home
SB 94 in California prohibits an advanced fee. Try typing in your Google, your state and senate bill, loan mod and see what comes up. FYI, I would not pay anyone to do what you can do on your own. The only thing the attorney will do is continue the barrage of calls, and faxes to the bank. If you are diligent and have time, you can accomplish the same goal. The loan mod is a simple application, and send in your financials...There is no tricks. If the bank feels they can make more money off you by a loan mod VS foreclosure, then you may get one...The numbers are bleak though...Good Luck

Are you having problems with the fee? If you want, you can just use the internet and search about loan modification if that's something that you wish to know.
