Paying taxes on another property

Posted on: 07th Mar, 2009 01:28 pm
My father has been paying taxes on the adjacent property since 1980, and he just recently passed away and now all of a sudden the owners (who passed away in 1979) son wants to start paying the taxes. Do we have a claim to this property or not?
Hi jeffandsuzymoose,

Was your father's name included in the title to this adjacent property? If yes, then you surely have a right to the property. But if the title doesn't mention your father's name, I doubt whether you can prove that you have a claim to this property.
