Hi ms. jackson,

You've mentioned that your account was charged off. In that case, you should ask the lender as to who your collection agency is. You will have to contact them and negotiate with them in order to get a payment plan to pay off your dues.

Where you working directly with First Franklin before it was transferred to Bank of America? Meaning some lenders have their own in house collection department even if it was charged off, sometimes they will keep it in house for x number of days. AS Adonis above stated you should contact Bank of America and ask for the charge off department, tell them you were transferred from another lender and your loan was charged off. If you get transferred over seas (india) ask to be transferred back to the US, they never have the right information. I've worked in the loan modification industry for over 3 years now. I know Bank of America like the back of my hand. Just so you know they have over 10-15 call centers and NONE of them operate the same!!! Believe me a feel your pain!!

The key is to ask the right questions and keep pushing till you get someone who can help you. It may take multiple calls but you will get the right answer. IF it went to collections you should be getting a notice of who to pay.

Good luck :) feel free to email with other questions or use our online support.
