I recently filed bancruptcy chapter 7 and had a mobile home which was included they came and repod it. we owed back taxes on the mobile home.do we have to still pay it since we no longer own the house?
Hi bmetals,
Since the taxes were owed when you were the owner of the mobile home, ideally it's you who should pay the back taxes. But now that the ownership has changed, you are no longer responsible for the property. If the back taxes are not paid, a lien could be placed on the property. The new owner would not want a lien to be placed on the property due to the back taxes. So, in case the mobile home has been sold to a new owner, you can talk to him/her and regarding this.
