Will a child support payment lower the amount of home mortg you qualify for?
Yes, if you're obligated to pay child support, it is a monthly payment that's taken into account in calculating your ratios, and it can negatively impact your ability to obtain a new loan.
does late child support count against your credit score?
Hi rhonda,
Late payment on child support may go against your credit score.
Thanks

Rhonda, a child support obligation that's so late as to be handled by the State authorities will always show up on a credit report. If you're talking about someone's obligation that showed up in February but was due in January, that's not going to be reported.
Only when the enforcement agencies get involved will an obligation such as child support or alimony be reported to credit agencies. And then it's always going to be a negative report, of course.

Yes it will since it as a fee that you are required to pay each month, Therefore it is taken into account calculating your ratios, and it can also lead to problems if you are planning on getting a loan.
what if you are going thru a court hearing so that the judge can tell you how much child support your going to pay to they consider all the bills you have to pay( house, car, your other family) before determining how much child support your going to pay?
Hi leee,
As far as I know, the court will consider all the bills you have to pay while determining how much child support you'll have to pay.
Thanks
