My wife and I are having the same problem with Citimortgage with trying to modify our loan. I took a $642 dollar paycut per month from my job. Citimortgage called my wife and I and offered us the chance to modify our loan. A representative said we were eligible for a payment of 1500 or less with taxes and insurance included. Seemed like a sweet deal at the, so we filled out the paper work turned it in and that's when the nightmare began. We turned in documents that were required and we waited for 4 months. Finally we called back and they said we needed more paperwork. We never notified of us about that. We turned more documentation and waited for 3 more months. My wife called back and we found out that Citi didn't even turn in our tax documents to the IRS, which delayed it more. I get a letter on my door saying call Citi. because I was missing documents. I call and I'm told I've been denied due to a letter that said my afterschool job ended. Didn't make sense because I have a job still, so when I called and questioned that statement I was given another story. I recieved a layoff letter that was to take place in August 27, 2010. This information that I had to call to get, because of never recieving any notifcation of any action taking place was in July, 2010. I was told now we are declined due to I'm not bringing any income. Uh hello! I was still working and bringing in checks. The process was started way back in February and should have not taken that long. Well we were approved for a modification, but it was 200 dollars more than what I was already paying. I would have to use one whole check and part of another one to pay my mortgage, which doesn't make sense since I have other bills and kids. I called because the letter we recieved said call if you can't afford these payments, and got voicemail and no call backs. When I threatened to go to corperate I got a call but was told that there was noting that citi could do. My wife and I were called and were avoided again for weeks. Finally I call and the next day my wife gets a call, not from the rep we were suppose to deal with, but someone to represent her. The rep just like the other ones had not idea what was going on. We were lied to and told we would hear from them in a day. The rep never called back, so we called yet again. We sent a letter to corporate about all of the problems we were having with this modification process and we got in return a bill with tax and escrow included and told we would have to pay 3000 by november. First we never signed a deal with citi and we pay our own city taxes and have no escrow account with them. Oh I forgot they called my insurance company and falsly told them we are now in escrow unbenounced to us. My wife put a stop on it and told them we are not in escrow. This has been a headache and I'm just telling you all parts of the story. If it wasn't for us citimortgage would be out of business, so you'd think that they would go the extra mile to keep people in their homes. Greed is blind. A class action lawsuit and exposure by news agencies is whats needed to expose these shisters and pimps of this mortgage industries.
Hi teachmckee,
I can understand what you're going through due to the actions of the mortgage company. Thanks for sharing your experience with the community. Your experience will help others take the right decision when they think of applying for a modification with Citimortgage.
Thanks
