Hello All,
I completed my short sale in February 2010, but now my $91k HELOC is with a collection agency. I am told by Chase that I can no longer deal with them, but must deal with the collection agency. i just got my first collection letter from them. I don't have anywhere near the $91k, and am about to go on Soc Sec, with very little other income. Any suggestions?

Hi holein!
Welcome to forums!
As Chase has assigned your account to a collection agency, they won't talk to you in this regard any more. You need to contact the attorney and negotiate with them so that they can forgive the due amount.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

thank you for your input. please clarify - what 'attorney' are you refering to? I don't have an attorney - yet. do you mean contact the collection agency's attorney and negotiate with them?
Hi holein!
Welcome to forums!
You need to contact the collection agency and their attorneys who are handling your case and you need to negotiate with them. You should let them know about your financial situation and request them to forgive your dues.
