we loaned a friend money and had a mortage on his commercial property. He did a deed in lieu of forclosure to us. We went through an attorney and had witnesses. Did we do the right thing

if you were not receiving your payments on time, then you had the rights to foreclose the property. i don't think you did anything wrong by going for a deed in lieu of foreclosure.
