My mother in law is currentley involved with personal problems with her daughter in law whom she lives with. When my mother in law purchased her home, her daughter in law was a cosigner. Her daughter in law wants out but wants half of what the home is valued at. Does her daughter in law have the right to half?
Hi rickrod!

Welcome to forums!

If the daughter-in-law's name is mentioned on the property deed, then she has the rights to claim her share of the property when she transfers the property to her mother-in-law.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

rickrod, whether she's entitled to 50% or more is something to be decided between the two of them, of course. but as sussane pointed out, she'd be entitled to a goodly portion of the proceeds of any sale, in any event. if she's trying to get cash out at this time without the sale of the home, that would necessitate a refinance by your mother-in-law. can that be accomplished? that's where it gets even trickier.
