Should my daughter walk away from her house?

Posted on: 16th Aug, 2010 10:28 am
My daughter lives in Virginia. She is trying very hard to make ends meet. She has taken a pay cut and is currently working 3 jobs. I full time and 2 part time. She is behind on her mortgage but is still attempting to pay. The mortgage company has basically told her they can't do anything for her until she misses payments completely. Should she just walk away from this house?
Hi twlrmom!

Welcome to forums!

If she walks away from the property, then the lender would foreclose. After the foreclosure, your daughter would be liable for paying the balance dues. If she can afford to pay the balance dues, then she may consider walking away from the property.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
