questions i have a home i bought before i got married, and my husband is not on the deed. i am now doing a deed in lieu of foreclosure, but the mortgage lendered wants to run a credit check on my husband to see if he;s had any bad credit problems. why?
I have not heard of that requirement. What does your current lender say in response to that question? They may be interested in if there is another mortgage, maybe they think you have another home, and are just trying to dump this property. Just a guess though. Please contact your lender, as only they will know why they are requiring that credit check...
Hi fathom!
Welcome to forums!
It is quite strange that prior to a deed in lieu of foreclosure, the lender wants to check your husband's credit. It is the lender who will able to clarify as to why he wants to do the credit check.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
